Bystock Nature Reserve is free to visit and dogs on lead are allowed.
It is 27 hectares of lake, heathland and meadows and is home to a diverse variety of wildlife and insect life. There is a short easy Access For All path and numerous rough trails and boardwalks clearly marked. Ponies are used to graze the heathland.
An area of special scientific interest there are wildflower meadows and a lily pad filled lake where dragonflies and damselflies play in the summer sun. Butterflies and birds flit past as you enjoy the wonderful peace of the day whilst evening brings bats, glow worms and the strange calls of nightjars.
